Syracuse to Washington DC

We left 2 hours later than planned, but only 1 hour after we'd estimated, so really, we left on time:  noon.

I won't mention the sad departure from Forest Edge Drive, only to say, it was tough, real tough.

Onwards to California, via a due south detour to Washington DC.

Today was largely uneventful, luckily, I suppose.  The drive was one we have done quite a few times with the dogs, but not in a pick up as laden as it was.  For the most part, we just chatted about what we want to get out of the next few years, remarked that we were hugely relieved the burnt out car on the side of the road wasn't ours and that we were ready for a Starbucks.

Once we arrived in DC, Laura, Casey and Will very generously offered to put us up for the night in their apartment, which was met with marked frustration from Mike as he had just finished cleaning the bathroom.  Nonetheless, we all sat down to a delicious supper cooked by our hostess and enjoyed each others company.  A late night, but a fun night, was had by all.

Thank you very much.

Camilla, Steve, Ollie and Lola
